The Parish of Ellington includes Ellington and Ellington Thorpe. Ellington is an attractive, small, rural parish in Huntingdonshire situated between Spaldwick and Grafham, close to the A14 Huntingdon – Thrapston trunk road. There are just over 230 households in the village. Just over one mile away is Grafham Water with its comprehensive outdoor leisure facilities.
Local amenities include the Mermaid Pub, a village hall, and All Saints Church. The playing field has a football field, tennis courts, and recently upgraded play equipment.
There is a limited bus service to Huntingdon and surrounding villages. The nearest train station is Huntingdon. Information for commuters is on the travel section of this website.
There are many active clubs, societies, and regular events based in the village which include: Village Club where you can meet other villages and enjoy a game of pool, darts, bingo or cards. There a whist group, an active WI, a Golf Society, and a regular quiz night each Sunday at the Mermaid.
The Annual Gala is held in mid June. Gala Day includes fun stalls, entertainment, games, a fancy dress event for the kids and a picnic on the green in the evening. There is a flower festival held in the church and a sports day held on the playing field. Games of Boules and pentaque are held at the Mermaid.
