Nominations have now closed for Parish Council elections and District Council elections, both on 3rd May.

There are 9 candidates for Parish Council, and a total of 7 positions, so there will be a Parish Council election for the first time in many years.

There are 2 candidates for the Great Staughton Ward of the District Council for a total of 1 seat, so there will be an election for District Council on the same day.

The Parish Council has 7 Members and a Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer.

The current members are listed on the Parish Council Members link. Enquires should be made either to the Clerk or Chairman.

Meetings are scheduled to be held once every 2 months on the first Monday of the month of: May, July, September, November, January and March.  Meetings are held at the Village Hall (off the Green, off Grafham Road) at 7.30 pm.

All residents, public and press are welcome to attend any meeting.  There is an Open Forum for 10 minutes at the beginning of each meeting when a member of the public can raise an issue to be discussed by Parish Council Members.  

The conduct of meetings is governed by a document called Standard Orders.  You can find a copy of this under the Policies section of this website.

Other meetings are scheduled if required.

Each year the Parish Council receives a precept (local Council Tax) to spend on the village.  This has been held at £9,000 for several years.  This pays for grass cutting, the Clerks salary, upkeep of the village hall, insurances, and other expenses.  Details of income and expenditure are available at each meeting and can also be examined prior to each annual return.

The next Parish Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 7th at 7.00 pm.  This is a change of date from the previously published date.  There will be a short Annual Meeting, followed by the May Parish Council Meeting.  All residents, press and public welcome to attend.  

A retrospective planning application for Bedfordia/Buffaload Logistics at Grove Park, Ellington (Ref: 1400436FUL) will be considered by the Parish Council.  Members of the public who wish to see this application, should go online to Huntingdonshire District Council's website's planning portal, click on 'View Planning Applications', and enter the reference number given.
